The 'preview' option prior to adding a news item refuses to work …

I am wondering if this is related to the 'preview' problem I reported earlier in post #67222?

I can't reproduce this one right now, but possibly the attached file will fix it. I guess it happens when the news summary is left blank?

  • The attachment (from a previous version … looks like 5.0.3?) has fixed the issue
The sequence of events with the v.6 module:
  • The whole form is completed, including the 'News Summary'
  • It then simply refuses to display a 'Preview' stating that I need to go back and fill in something it thinks I didn't
  • Since I KNOW that all the fields have been completed, and since there is no report of any Comcode errors, I hit the 'Add news' button and it saves the entry without any further complaint

A comparison of both news.php files, old and new, shows a mass of stuff going on in the new version that wasn't addressed in the older one. But, of course, I haven't got a clue as to what was introduced and what it is meant to do …

Resurrecting this one!

The 'fix' supplied above (post#67389), which I am certain is from a previous release, works fine.

The later 6.x.x versions of sources/hooks/systems/preview/news.php continue to throw up the error I reported above - post#67383

My explanation is as described in the post immediately above.

Any ideas?

This does not seem to make sense, but here is something that turns off server-side checking off the title and main body (which are the only non-optional things in the preview).

No luck with that one either, Chris.

I think we should put this one to bed. I am content that the 'old' version of the file continues to work for me, and that is all I am able to concentrate on for now.

Perhaps we can re-visit this when I've run similar tests on the other test sites I've put up - IF I get a similar result.

It may well be some sort of override on my live site, but I don't see anything that wants to jump up and flag itself at the moment.
