How do I enable the OCF Member Bar? The only mention of it that I can find is ocPortal Tutorial: Specific templates and CSS classes - ocPortal, but no info on how to display it. Performing an admin search for "bar" yields no useful info.

When I look at the HTML generated for the forum page it shows just the following stub?

Code

 <div class="member_bar_etc">

</div>
Also, I would have expected the member bar to be a default option, and one that could easily be turned off/on, not something that is hidden away.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

It's designed to disable itself if you set the forum zone to non-wide (i.e. have panels). But there's a hidden option to turn it on. Type this into OcCLE:

Code

:set_value('force_forum_bar','1');

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks Chris.

Adding that in takes my minimum resolution up to about 1330 wide, but I can trim that back down to 1280 by tweaking the template and removing the avatar and member stats from the top section.
