Moving forward with Composr

ocPortal has been relaunched as Composr CMS, which is now in beta. ocPortal 9 will be superseded by Composr 10.

I have probably missed something fundamental, but please help out an old geezer here and tell me how I can get rid of the "A message from the ocPortal developers" overlay that continuously shows itself in the Admin Zone despite clicking the 'Dismiss' button.

This happens on a new install of version 6(beta) that I am currently working on, with the intent of handing it over to a charitable cause, but not before I can clear the decks, so to speak, and for me it is tantamount to preaching to the converted!

Thanks.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

You can remove the overlay tag from the Comcode of that page. We've found the bug also and fixed for the next release.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

This is broken again in 6.1.  Plus it kills the system due to cpu usage.

I can concur p-n-u's observation. This message is now appearing on a brand new 6.1 install on a test site I've set up, although it appears to have been 'dismissed' for good on the other three, the ones that were set up prior to 6.1!

bummer

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I now see there was a bug in our code, but I don't think it's new in 6.1, I think the memory was always broken. I did mention before taking it out by editing the Admin Zone's start page, which definitely would work.

Will be fixed for next version.

Was a bug in Comcode, so this little annoyance was not entirely in vain ;).

As for the speed issue, I tested on IE6 on my 5-year-old Win XP laptop, and it seems to handle fine.
