I get the following error when i click "next" or "page2" at the bottom of my downloads section!

Code

A parameter [URL] is referenced in the template CATEGORY_BROWSE_NEXT, but not passed (ocPortal version: 2-6.1, PHP version: 4.3.11, URL: /membersonly/index.php?page=downloads&type=cat&start=30&root=1&id=2)
Here is the stack-trace

Below is a stack-trace revealing the state ocPortal was in when the error occured. If this represents a bug in ocPortal's unmodified software, you may want to check ocportal.com for a fix, and if there isn't one, report this as a bug. Please note that merely posting a stack trace is not sufficient for us to solve your problem; the stack trace is just an aid that presents us with additional information. We still need to know the error message, the human situation, version numbers, and any other appropriate information.
We apologise for this problem and hope you will work with us so that we can fix it promptly.

This is the verbatim CATEGORY_BROWSE_NEXT template:

Code

<p style="border-left: 0px" class="light">{!NEXT}&nbsp;&raquo;</p>

It doesn't use a 'URL' parameter, but your ocPortal one does. I suspect you have done some rethemeing and accidently put something derived from the contents of the 'CATEGORY_BROWSE_NEXT_LINK' template into the 'CATEGORY_BROWSE_NEXT' template.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

ok, so i downloaded the category_browse_next.tpl from the ftp which had the following code :

Code

<div><a href="{URL*}" title="{!CATEGORY_LAUNCH_JUMP,{P*},{TITLE*}}" style="border-left: 0px" class="light">{!NEXT}&nbsp;&raquo;</a><span style="display: none">, </span></div>

So, I updated it with the code you gave me :

Code

<p style="border-left: 0px" class="light">{!NEXT}&nbsp;</p>

but i still get the error which i had posted earlier…
when a user browses through a category of downloads and reaches at the end of the page & clicks page 2 or next, that is when the error occurs..

The template cache will be cacheing the file. You either need to edit templates from inside ocPortal, or to clear the cache when you edit them manually. If you like to use FTP for things, one way to fix it is to delete themes/whatever-theme/templates_cached/whatever-language/CATEGORY_BROWSE_NEXT.tcd
