random correct answers?

Hi,

Have set up a quiz thingy. Lovely feature - if I could get it to work and ideally if it could be incorporated with the points system, allow commercial competitions etc.

My problem is that having set up a quiz the answers appear somewhat random. For a start they are not in the order I set them, worse, they give an 'incorrect' result to the correct answers. I set the quiz, I KNOW the answers yet it just told me I got 45% in my own quiz.

What's up with this?

Update - editing the quiz shows it has changed the answers marked as correct.

It changed them, by itself. For example:

6) Microsoft .NET 2.0 is
The next version of the internet [*]
The next version of the Windows operating system
A powerful and stable software handling library
Something for catching pancakes…

I did NOT set "next version of the internet" as the correct answer!

I have edited the quiz twice now and it keeps rearranging the correct answers, rendering it useless.

Is this a bug or have I set it to "silly nonsense quiz" or something?

I've just noticed it says something about not being able to alter the order or something, so tried deleting that quiz to try again:

PHP NOTICE [8] Undefined index: q_answer_text (ocPortal version: 3.0.11, PHP version: 4.4.4, URL: /cms/index.php?page=cms_quiz&type=__ed)

I was going to set this up on my site but I want users to be able to make quizes kind of like those you see on other sites.

Hope this is fixed before I go to use it. Also I will see if it does this on my site.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

It's done it again, just tried creating a brand new quiz, set the questions and answers then tried editing the quiz to check.

Half the answers have again changed to incorrect answers as "correct".

????????

Edit: by the way, below the quiz editing thingy it says there is a tutorial for this feature. Well that's handy! Let's click it..

"ocPortal Tutorial: Improving your search engine ranking"

That's always a good thing but not entirely what I expected for the quiz feature?

Looks like it's working on mine, give it a go and tell me how it behaves.
It's on this page

Edit.
Glad I put a link here, no idea how to access the quiz from the site.
Any idea?

I'd have to log in and everything and it's a French site by the look of it.

Saya tidak boleh cakap bahasa Perancis, tapi bahase melayu boleh, jike jangan bagus!

(I don't speak French, though I can speak Malay, if not very well!)

How exactly did you get it working?

This is my preview:

0) Which of the 3 foodgroups is most likely to make you fat?
Fat
Carbohydrates [*]
Protein

1) If you can lift a 10lb weight 10 times, what would your 1RM be?
About 15lbs [*]
About 20lbs
12lbs

2) which has the most fat?
A bag of potato chip [*]
A Fried egg
A bowel of oatmeal

3) Which is most effective for losing weight?
Cardiovascular exercise
Bodybuilding (resistance) exercises [*]
A Low-fat diet

4) What is meant by bodybuilders as "ripped"?
Nasty injury
Extremely muscular and lean [*]
Skinny
Bloated

5) What does 'BMI' stand for?
Body mass index [*]
Body metabolic indicator
Broad measure indicator

6) Microsoft .NET 2.0 is
The next version of the internet
The next version of the Windows operating system
A powerful and stable software handling library [*]
Something for catching pancakes…

7) 90% of people who 'diet' either fail completely or rapidly regain weight. Why?
They did it all wrong [*]
They're lazy slobs who can't resist cream cake
It's their jeans
It's their genes
They don't really want to lose weight

8) The majority of Americans today are overweight.
True [*]
False

9) Trans fats are:
Better than butter
Nasty artificial poo [*}
Good for cooking only

10) I want a copy of Biggly Diet and Exercise Software because:
Dunno?
It's a powerful tool that will help me in ways I cannot even imagine yet! [*]
Because it has cake reciepes
I can do my tax returns with it

I click "Edit"..

"Operation has completed" Kewl.

I click "edit one", then select this quiz as it's the only one I have…

Do a preview without altering anything…

1) feel free to join if you want, everything is still in english

2) hmm hmmmm
I thought it worked.
Actually, you don't even have to edit the thing to realize it's a bit odd.
Just refresh your browser, looks like everything is randomized…  :$

Just started to create a new test and I notice the new one does not start at 0, though it did before…

OK, will re-number them, starting at 1..

Well my hopes are dashed:

"You got 5 marks out of 11 (45%)

You have failed the test"

The questions are randomised as well, or perhaps that's the problem. For example I put a "True or False" question but it's shown as "False or True", so's to speak.

Then again that's one question it got right, so completely confusing.

If I did something wrong somewhere it should give an error message, not accept my entry then EDIT it - that's completely unacceptable.

Regarding linking, not sure. I haven't checked the permissions on my own quiz yet so dunno if you need to log in or not.

One thing that's not random - I just noticed it is putting the very first answer as correct for all 11 questions.

 :P
  1. order of questions is randomized
  2. order of answers within the question is randomized
  3. the [*] is randomized also.

Anyone seen that spoof thing, might be "Scary Movie" or some such, where they have the spoof of the Chinese movie with the weird little kid?

The kid that's up in the attic and all over the place, Chinese kid but blue skin as though a corpse? Seen that movie?

I ask as wifey and I giggled uncontrollably at one particular gag, seeing as we live in Malaysia with a lot of Chinese Malaysians. In pure silly spoof, unlike the real movie, the kid starts talking in Chinese (possibly Japanese actually) saying things like:

"Kawasakihonda susukisony!"

But the funniest bit was how the leading lady addressed him. First she said "Hello?" to his ghostly presence. Then, remembering she's in Japan, China, wherever, she tries in Japanese..

"Erro?"

So, having set the scene, and regarding this quiz thing…

Erro?

ideally if it could be incorporated with the points system, allow commercial competitions etc.

Pulling the quizzes so far into the dynamic concerns us, because it's "asking for" people to cheat.

My problem is that having set up a quiz the answers appear somewhat random. For a start they are not in the order I set them

This is intentional, to try and make it harder to cheat. However, if you are finding the answers aren't correct then obviously that is a serious problem – and I'll be looking into it now.

PHP NOTICE [8] Undefined index: q_answer_text (ocPortal version: 3.0.11, PHP version: 4.4.4, URL: /cms/index.php?page=cms_quiz&type=__ed)

We got through an automated error report about this last night and it has since been fixed (a fix is in our public bug database).

How do I link to a quiz?

As with anything in ocPortal, you can just grab a URL and shove it into the URL field of a menu item. If you don't know the URL, if you go to the 'quiz' page (the menu editor will help you create a link, or you can just change the URL in the browser toolbar), you'll get a list of the URLs of all quizzes as hyperlinks.

Sounds great, I'll take a look.

I now have another prob - if I click on 'vote' for a poll in the forum, it's one I created myself, just playing with it, got:

PHP WARNING [2] array_key_exists() [<a href='function.array-key-exists'>function.array-key-exists</
a>]: The second argument should be either an array or an object (ocPortal version: 3.0.11, PHP version: 4.4.4, URL: /forum/index.php?page=topics&type=vote_poll&id=2&start=0&max
=20&kfs2=0)

Last time I played with a poll on the front page it worked but thnis forum one doesn't?
