There's something wrong with the server - the PHP mysql_field_type function is returning nonsense. I've made a small workaround so ocPortal doesn't use it, but it could have many unforseen consequences because now everything that comes out of the database is a 'string' and PHP is doing a lot of automatic (but possibly imperfect) type conversion.

Your compute is your server correct?
It maybe that you to reconfigure it.

I run Otaku Play Ground and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Not quite. Chris is saying that although you can now use ocPortal on your server, there may be unforeseen problems due to this problem with your server's PHP installation. I'd advise that you contact your web host about the problem. :)

Yes, so even though it is possible to run ocPortal on my website, there may be problems and errors?

I left ocPortal 'working' at real estate apartment for rent at ts2s.net. I'm just saying there could be further unexpected problems.

You showed an internal IP so I assumed it was.
Who does host your site?

Ok, will do. Hey…can you do me a favor…Tell me what you see when you goto:

http://192.168.0.2/

I'm trying to setup hosting for someone, but they say they get a FireFox error…

This is an internal IP, meaning local to you. Like my computer I am at now is 192.168.1.120. My router is 192.168.1.1.

Yes, at the time I was referring to my windows server, as I gave hosting to someone on my windows server, and wanted to know why you seen as no one could see anything. I didn't know it was internal, but I honestly have no clue what my IP is :P I cannot even access my IRC server as it's hosted on computer. I've tried going to those "What's my IP?" sites, but the IP they give me always gives me FF timeout errors.

Yes Philip, those used to be my IP addresses, all up until a few days ago when I got my wireless setup, and they gave me a new IP. When I goto those IP sites that tell you what your IP is, it says mine is 72.230.46.122, but I get FF timeout errors. Does anyone else get these errors too?

Umm Chris, whenever I do something that has to do with OCF, such as viewing the forums, or making forums, I get a download pop-up of a blank index.php file.

EDIT: I cannot edit usergroups either. There are many things wrong here, not to mention everything I still might run into, and I wouldn't want to ask you to fix everything. I'll just use ocPortal on another host. I do appreciate all you've done Chris. Thank you.

Try renaming recommended.htaccess to .htaccess.

A little help please? I tried to install ocPortal on my other shared hosting, but something is wrong with the host, as I get these errors:

[ts2sforums.net] [Sun Oct 08 11:44:25 2006] [error] [client 72.230.46.122] Premature end of script headers: index.php | directory is writable by others /home/www/ts2sforums.net
Error 500: Script Execution Failure

I've tried installing ocPortal on my windows server which was successful, and 2 Linux servers that unfortunately were not successful. I will admit: ocPortal has many great features, and no other CMS/Portal is as good as oc. I really wanted to use ocPortal because it's easier, and there are more features… But I keep receiving problems with this software…Does it not like Linux or something? :P
