Hello,

I had first installed ocPortal on my windows server to test it out, in which the results were amazing….so I decided to install it on my Linux server, and prepare for live usage, in which I had tried to install ocPortal using the quick installation method…and I must say…am I supposed to keep pressing the "Proceed" button multiple times for it to upload all the files? All I know is the numbers of files is raising… I'm guessing that's the amount of files that were just uploaded, and how many files still need to be uploaded? Not to be rude, but in my personal opinion…this so called "quick" way just turned out to be the "slower" way than uploading all files manually…:P I've been in the process of installing ocPortal via Quick Method for about an hour now… Manually, I probably could've had it done before an hour… :P

Yes. Due to the many different configurations of web server out there, we had to split the file installation up to prevent timeouts. If you keep clicking proceed, it should work.
What you could do is increase the number of files transferred per step, to decrease the number of steps it takes.

I get the impression from 'an hour' that possibly you'd reduced that number Philip referred to. It should, by default, be around 6 upload steps if I remember correctly.

I set mine for the all the files as I remembered how many it uploads like 2830 or around that just put in 2900. Mine worked fine on that but it took some waiting after hitting proceed.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

I guess a warning in your line of work tends tomean 'run for cover'. Fortunately it's not so severe when it comes to computers ;).

Compared to how many steps IPB added with their new 2.2 version, this is nothing.

Are you using the OCF or another forum as that looks like a forum issue, I could be wrong.

OCF

Something is wrong here, there is a folder named "pages", but not "0pages"… What's telling it to look at "0pages"?

I am not sure, I have not seen that.
What I would do is delete every thing from the server and try installing it again.

:P See, I had my ISP setup a wireless on my account, in which they game me like 3 different IP addresses… I do not know which one to use so others can access my windows server. 2 of the IP's say "Server not found", and one says "Server is taking too long to respond", so maybe that is the one? But why would it say that? I dunno, I think they screwed something up…

This might be file corruption brought on by an incompatibility between the quick installer and your web hosting.

You might want to try deleting all the files and using the manual installer.

Is it possible if the installation was completed for me? I would obviously supply all database information, and any other information needed. I've been trying to install for 2 days now, nothing but errors. I've tried the manual way, and the quick way, but still the same errors. ocPortal's requirements are suitable for my server…I don't understand what the problem could be.

Could you run a test for us please. Please create a PHP file named test.php with the following contents:

PHP code

<?php
$array
=array(__FILE__,getcwd(),$_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'],$_SERVER['PATH_TRANSLATED']);
foreach (
$array as $x)
{
   echo
'<p>'.htmlentities($x).'</p>';
}
?>
and load it up, and tell us what it says.

It looks like somehow your PHP install may be misreporting some paths.

I've looked carefully at the error again, and it appears ocPortal reads a zone with the name of decimal 0 from the database. This makes no sense at all, so I think somehow your database connection isn't working with ocPortal.

If you send over those details in a PT/support-ticket after agreeing to our policy, I'll see if I can work out why the database connection isn't working with ocPortal.
