Hi everyone,

I am not sure if this is a bug in the new release of 7.1.5, or just a fluke on my site. I get the following error, especially when trying to embed a video in a post.

Code

PHP WARNING [2] pspell_new_config() [function.pspell-new-config.php]: PSPELL couldn't open the dictionary. reason: No word lists can be found for the language "en_GB". in data/areaedit/plugins/SpellChecker/spell-check-logic.php on line 282 (version: 7.1.5, PHP version: 5.2.17, URL: /data/preview.php?page=topics&type=new_topic&utheme=ModernBlue)

I think you don't have the en_GB language pack on the server, which the default ocPortal language will specify. Here is a fix to make it fallback to just 'en'.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks for that, Chris. One thing that really gets me angry is incompetent web hosts. This is not an OCP problem, it is a hosting problem. I never had problems such as this when I owned my own servers and could configure them myself.

I left you a post in your survey concerning paid support costs, please take a look. I would be willing to work with you to set-up a round robin or cloud configuration.

Thanks. If we did a cloud option, we'd really go and do it properly, rather than just doing something like Bitnami on top of virtual machines. So it'd be a cloud version of ocPortal, auto-updated, support tickets out of Admin Zone, etc. That's a big project though. Right now we are very happy to support our hosting partners, eLief, who in return are hosting us for free.

It sounds as though you are on top of "true" cloud hosting. Most of what I see offered is NOT cloud hosting, it is, as you point out, nothing more than virtual machines with some sort of fail-over. In the case of my host, it does not work.

I may need to take a look a eLief. I just reacquired the TrustServe domain. I have tired several shared hosts, and have not been happy with any of them. I don't want to go to the expense of buying another server just for TrustServe. It is a very small site and more of a hobby than anything else.

psydoc-

I moved to eLief a while back and it has been a great choice for a shared plan. The fact that ocPortal and eLief work together to solve problems is a godsend compared to the typical finger pointing.

They are not big but they know how to take care of their customers.
