I just got the error when using the Flash uploader - this time in Firefox instead of Safari.

The error message is:
An error occurred in the upload. Try again later.

The box then turns red and says "File rejected".

Used the Simple Uploader with no issues. The file size is only 37kb, no where near the max upload size. The problem seems intermittent: sometimes the Flash uploader works, sometimes it doesn't.

I will just continue watching for problems and see if there is anything in common. Not much for you to go on at this point.

You could see if there is anything corresponding in the ocPortal error log. This sounds though like it might be either a Flash bug, or some kind of issue with Flash being more sensitive to network issues.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

There was an update for Flash yesterday (or the day before, perhaps). Have you tried that? It's version 10.3.181.22 on my Mac.

Thanks Chris and Robbie-

I  should have mentioned that there is nothing in the error log. I was surprised by this but it probably does indicate a problem outside ocPortal.

I upgraded my version of Flash and still have the same problem - same image doesn't upload in Flash uploader but does with the Simple Uploader. Looks like I will just need to force use of the Simple Uploader.

Thanks again for your help.
