Hi
I'm new to OCPortal and I'm doing my first install, I tried the using the ftp install which didn't work for me so I ended up going with a manual install. Every thing appeared to go ok until I get to the admin page, I get the following:

A problem has been detected with your web server that may cause yourlogin to fail - if it does, click back and read the rest of thismessage. Some servers are poorly configured, and invisibly redirecttraffic from one URL to another, and this invisible redirection resultsin lost submitted form data. Try changing your base URL in the config editor so that it doesn't containwww.then come back to this URL (make sure to refresh the page) and tryagain. If problems persist, contact your web host. This autodetectionwill not be done once you have opened your website.

I opened config_editor but don't see anywhere to change the domain info. so I tried installing with out the www in front of the domain and got an error telling me to add the www. When I try to log into the admin I get redirected to a "page not found"

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong any help would be appreciated, I am installing the sw in a sub directory and have hostgator for my server.
Thanks
Mary

Hi mkmagu! Welcome aboard! The line that will be of interest to you in config_editor is 6th from the top: base_url. Also, try opening your site and see if the issue goes away. (Setup ==> Configuration ==>Site options)

Thanks for the info I still could not get that install to work. I'm trying to install on another host that I have, I've had a couple of errors for some reason I can't get the FTP to work so again I did a manual install. Right now I'm getting the following error

Cannot create a directory /home/marement/public_html/my-kaleidoscopes.com/themes/The_Living_Dog_Journal/. This file should have existed anyway, but we tried to repair it and failed. Please create this directory manually and apply full write permissions. said

I created the directory and gave it a permission of 777 but the sw is not seeing it, I also tried 755 permission with no luck. At this point I can't go any further. Does anyone have any ideas, or suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,

That error message is wrong, we'll get it fixed.

What you actually need to do is to delete the folder you made manually then assign full write permissions to the themes folder.

This said, it's a shame that FTP isn't working for you. What error do you get from FTP? Ideally you'd either have FTP working or be on a server that doesn't need special permissions setting (suexec).
