I'm having problems attaching new theme images to menu item.

I've FTP'd several images to the /themes/mytheme/images/menu_items folder. I can see/edit the images in the theme image manager listed as menu_items/xyz etc., but when I edit a menu and tried to apply any of the new images they are not listed in the dropdown list.

I've even used to cleanup tools to de-cache/rebuild everything, but that made no difference.

How do I force a refresh so that the new images are recognised properly?

I had the same issue here mate. In the end, I just stuck 'em in the default theme images/menu_items folder as a work around.

Ah yes. SoccerDad is right, they need to be in the default theme, for reasons of content stability. You can still override them into a theme, but they need to be represented in the default theme.

I'll document that.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks Chris. I saw that it was picking up my other themed menu items and just couldn't figure out why it wasn't picking up these also.

Thanks SoccerDad. I always new that was an option, but I prefer not to use workarounds as they have a tendency to come back and bite you. And this particular one looked more like a bug to me, so I though I'd better query it first.
