G'day guys,
I've just rebuilt our site after our webhost was compromised and I'm having some trouble setting permissions for what people can view.
Currently guests cannot view the news on the front page, I want it to be visible. I've gone into the edit screen for news, but the permissions section doesn't appear to display anything and clicking on the buttons does nothing. Thoughts?

:S. Did all the groups get set to non-permissive ones (clubs), or super admin, or deleted somehow?

Not that I know of. All the pages on our site got wiped, but our database was backed up. After reinstalling the site I got it to use the old database. Same version of OCP. Could this be the cause?

I've gone back through some old threads and discovered I had this same issue last time I reinstalled the site lol.
It was fixed in the end by Chris weaving some coding magic, but I don't know what you changed.

I think the only thing that's different this time around is we're now using phpBB 3.0.11

Ah, phpBB. I doubt what you linked to has anything to do with it though, as all fixes get incorporated, and that was from years back.

The code suggests the only way this could happen is if phpBB's 'groups' table is empty, but I don't see how that can happen on a legitimate phpBB database, because it has a number of default groups out-of-the-box.

I've got OCP version 7.1.4 does that help? Looking back through our admin forum, the last time I created a thread for discussing site upgrades was in late 2011 so that old thread here could be the last time we updated lol.

phpBB is working fine.

Right. And you reverted all the files to the original ones for that release, when restoring?

Try this:

You sir, are awesome. Looks like that did the trick.
I'm also once more experiencing the bug where the site doesn't remeber logins. Another one where you did some behind the scenes fixes.

If you dig around on github, you'll find that is the next fix by date for that file. I didn't want to post the link to that one in case that wasn't targeted to you.

Hmmm, there's a bunch listed as the same date, and some entries before that, but I don't see anything after the one you already posted.
Do I need to sacrifice a chicken to get that site to make things easy to find or am I just retarded?

Community saint

In github, you would need to switch to the Master branch and view the commit history of the phpbb3.php file (here). I think the next version up of the phpbb3.php file you are looking for is the Oct 4th, 2011 (here).
