Well-settled

I have been getting reports on my site that when someone is previewing their post in the forums that their attachments are showing up as broken images.  I was just posting some jpgs on a post here and got the same issue.  Thought I'd let someone know.

Is there a different way that I should be reporting bugs or is this OK?  Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this, and here's fine. Could you let us know a few more things:
  • the web browser (i.e. IE, Firefox, ..)
  • the attachment type (e.g. inline, island)
  • whether it is a new attachment
  • the URL to the broken image, and what happens when you put it into a new browser window (e.g. it gives a 404 error?)
  • whether it happens to admins only?
  • whether is is only sometimes happening? e.g. is it dependent on image size

No. I just experienced the problem here when I was trying to attach the screenshots for the gallery rights issue I am having.  These are larger files, so that may have something to do with it. And yes it was a new attachment.

@blodlizrd: May I ask how you changed the background image on the login page? I figured it would be somewhere in the LOGIN_PAGE.tpl file, but unfortunately it's not. :/

I will check and let you know.  It has been a while since I did it.  I was thinking that it was in the Manage Theme Images sections, but I went through what seemed to be the ones it would be and couldn't find it.  I'll let you know as soon as I find it.

Here is an example of the behaviour that I was explaining in the first post.  I just got it again when I was previewing the post I just made.  Are the attachments just to large perhaps?

I had a shot at reproducing it myself and couldn't, but it might be that if a connection error happened, that they might not upload properly. A connection error is more likely if files are larger.

If you can post the URL to one of those broken images, I could run some different tests.

After actually posting the images appear just fine… it's just in the preview stage that they do not.

That's rather odd. Anyway, if it happens again, please copy the image URL and paste it into this topic for me to analyse :).
