Just a general annoyance i have run into. I wish to remove/disable user avatars from displaying on new posts, support tickets, and other pages outside the actual forums. I assume since all the pages use the same forum code, it might be impossible to limit the pages they appear on. So as a simple solution, how can I disable them completely from the site. Is it as simple as deleting the images from the server, or will that leave me with errors? I can see no option to simply turn them off.

Please help.

You can uninstall the ocf_member_avatars addon, or you can do lots of template editing if you want more granularity (would take you quite a while).

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I think that is (someone else posted same issue, but I don't think we filed the fix properly).

Where exactly is it showing that?

It appears on profile page, as well as tickets (from what i tested).

The profile page has a box around it, the support tickets is just the word.

Please try this :).

I think actually this is a different issue to what was reported, but was fixed in the development code already.

The issue is if the avatar was set to one of the stock ones, which was then removed, it will still reference it. This code does a check that the referenced file still exists.
