Fan in action

I thought I would make a site backup and play around with some ocportal features.
I tried using the site wizard. After I used it i noticed somethings that were wrong:

The Japanese version would not display properly. It was a mixture of English and Japanese. Using website cleanup tools didn't fix it.

Under the tools menu, The "site backup" menu item went missing, and so did the backup.php file.
It got deleted somehow.

Luckily, I had made a backup before and was able to restore our test site.

When you have time, please check it out. Be sure to have at least one non-western language for testing.

You probably let the Setup Wizard uninstall it ;). We don't recommend use of it (any PHP backup systems sucks) so it probably is not selected to be on by default.

I will reply to language issues in your other topic :).

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
