I know the staff do not react negatively to such comments, so neither will I.

But I am surprised to read this claim on this Forum, because I think all users can state categorically that the support offered by the staff of ocPortal is probably second to none.

I think Chris has already responded to this with an entry at post 30485, and I hope that that response will be acknowledged openly here.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I can tell that the staff and including Chris have answered all the questions that I posted in this forum.  Ocportal compared to the other programs that is available on the internet does not even come close the available options, price, experience coders and the great support they offer.

 O_o
The support here is great. Heck better then IPB.
IPB a lot of time specially if the problem is not with their base product but a mod (add on) of it they will tell you to go to a user to user support site mainly theirs.
How ever here Chris Tries to help and heck I could go though the forum and show more then 1 example of that.
Heck one of the main reasons I like this product so much is the support.
To me their are only 2 places I deal with that have really great support.
My webhost (Downtownhost.com) and ocPortal.
They both have the best support I have ever seen and I have been on many other sites.

I remember when I had 1and1.com for my web host and found the support there awful as all they did for every ticket was copy and paste right from the FAQ.

Another bad host I had was host excellence and my site was not coming up at all even using the IP and they blamed the DNS and hung up on me twice and said it was not their fault each time.

Another bad host which is now closed do to the lack of support any way they had changed servers with out letting any one know well my DNS was still pointing at the old one and I made lots of changes to the site and then the next day every change I made was gone and I was told when I finally got a hold of the owner via msn as he would not reply to the support tickets. I was told he would take care of it and nothing was done even after a week.

To not just stick to hosts I have had bad experiences to scrips to like the perfect page scripts. I was having a hug problem with one and just because I mentioned I made a change to the script they would not help me even after I took off the change and even downloaded and installed a fresh copy.

And another script for a shoutbox, I found a security problem in which members could gain access to the admin zone and a fix did not come out for 6 months.

Another script a CMS like ocPortal. I called it a portal cuz at the time I did not see any difference between portal and cms as a lot of script sites put them in the same genre. Any way they were so paranoid of their system being called a portal that I eventually got banned for calling it that.

I could go on and on with bad support I have seen but ocPortal is not one I have seen give bad support.

OCportal does not do any of those bad things I have mentioned and I am glad they are as good as they are.

How many script owners or makers do you know who would go out of their way to log into your site to find and fix a problem?
ocPortal does that as Chris has logged into my site before and I have seen threads where he has logged into other sites as well.

Also how many scripts when a bug is reported come out with a fix in less then a week?
From every thing I have seen ocPortal does that and a lot of times a bug fix will come out that day or even the next day.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Unfortunately, due to massive work commitments, I do not post as much as I should on the site but I have to say our guys using OCP and my own experience is that we shake our heads in bewilderment at how the OCP guys maintain the level of support they do provide. These guys are unbelievable and continue developing ver 4, answer the Forums, the many hidden posts, hidden bug lists reports and at the same time manage to hold down jobs, do contract work and get time for a life. I am in IT in a big Government org and we pay 140k a year to Microsoft for Premium support, 550k pa for Upgrade assurance and we get less than we get from OCP. There is not a technical issue we have had that has not been resolved and most almost in real time… I hope you will have some patience and work with the developer community in the forums here on the site as they are all a great bunch of people in my experience… I cannot speak highly enough of all the resource here both Chris and his team and the guys and girls in the forums.

This is the best support I have ever seen for a product such as this.  Especially taking into account the fact that I am running a free version of this software.  There is "paid-for" support that isn't this good.  Chris has helped me immensely to satisfy my picky tastes.  I picked OCP because I was looking for a forum to implement on my site that was based around a gallery, and I  thought, "well, I could use this as a platform for some other ideas I have".  Well… I spend more time customizing OCP than I do the gallery, which I really need to be spending my time on.  :p  You guys are doing a great job.  Your product has really brought my site to life and Chris' help has helped me shape my site into what I want it to be.
Thanks.

EDIT:  I see now where all this came from.  Looks like he is pretty happy with it now.  I got a little worked up there… but at least you guys know how I feel about your product.

I've been harrassing Chris ceaselessly since I upgraded my version of OCP, and no matter how daft the question he is always quick to answer and offer useful advice.

I agree with all of you. Chris has been superb! For as little as they charge for OCP, I can't believe how prompt and well support is offered.

I agree 100%! Since Chris & Co. answer all our questions, no matter how trivial, almost faster than we can type them and ask for nothing in return, not only must bank accounts suffer, one can also feel sympathy towards the work load presented. Poor support (guys) indeed! One step further, members of the community here also take time out to answer questions and offer solutions, and hats off to them as well.

I'm still a firm believer that ocPortal is one of the best overall packages on the 'net, and between us all, as ocp matures, me thinks it will be well worth the ride!
