I love the idea of the point system but I want to use it in a slightly different way than it was probably intended for.

I don't need auto advancement as all the Groups are set by the Members position in our company. But what I want is to award prizes each month or maybe each quarter based on the points that the members have at the end of the selected period. The problem for me is after the prizes are awarded I want to reset the sites points back to zero and start the process over again.

So my question is, is there an easy way to reset all points back to Zero?

And other than the above mentioned auto advancement to other higher groups that I don't require is there any other adverse result to setting all points back to Zero?

Hi,

This could be done with some new code that clears all members points each month by charging them the full amount of points they have. This would work so long as the point earning settings weren't changed (those changes work retroactively so that would throw off the accuracy of the monthly balancing charges).
After this the leader-board would be usable to work out who had won each month.

If you're interested in ocProducts giving you a cost estimate for this change, please open a ticket.

I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
