Moving forward with Composr

I am working on the Points and the Point Store options of my site today and decided to test a Points Store sale. So I bought a FLAGRANT TEXT MESSAGE.

Purchase done and cleared the caches. I note to myself that my Points Spent indicated I had Purchased the FLAGRANT TEXT MESSAGE.

Looking at the page footer (where I assume the message will show up) I am looking for the purchased message text but don't seen anything showing up.

Also way back in February I had bought a NAME HIGHLIGHTING but had never noticed any real difference in the display of my name as compared to anyone elses name. I am wondering if there is something missing or a bug here?

Setup new flagrant text message

Welcome to the text-exchange section. From here you can pay to have your own customised message appear at the bottom of every single page of Charmed Sims for a period of days.

You can specify the number of days for your message to be up, charged at a cost of xxx points per day.

Your message will then be validated by our staff, and be put on the site on a first-come first-serve basis (the current queue length is x days). In the event that we cannot approve your message, our staff will contact you and from there a new message can be negotiated.

All messages are subject to our rules and personal judgement. We do not allow obscenity or profanity, or for you to say things that are morally dubious (such as lying to, disturbing, or insulting our visitors), or things that cast our site in a bad manner. We may also put limitations on the use of the facility, in order to allow its reasonable use by all members who want it. We will routinely correct spelling mistakes and bad grammar. It is at our own discretion how we wish to handle the queue, and what we choose to allow, disallow, or change.

I have found no place to do the 'approval' my Points store message looks different than yours - but I notice it says there is a 5 day queue length

Can't find where to approve either. :(

Documents don't help either. They show pictures, but don't show how to get to where the pictures are showing.

Flagrant messages…

  1. Admin Zone front page checklist has a link
  2. Not well explained, I agree. So I've added an email sent to the staff upon-purchase, for the next patch release
  3. I am now aware when you click the checklist link, it gives an image error (which you can ignore). That'll be corrected

I also appreciate the highlight name stuff isn't exactly inspiring. Currently it just sets italics. We're going to add this to our global.css to jazz it up a bit:

I read Chris' reply and went to check it out and I too noticed the obscure "Show All" & "Hide Done" then saw your post pointing it out. - Thanks.

I was able to add the FLAGRANT TEXT MESSAGE and set a time limit on it - 5 days. The message has been showing up for the last 13 days. I thought there was an automatic expiration?

I am also wondering about the comment at Setup for the Default flagrant text:

Setup>Configuration>Site Options>Default flagrant text said

The message displayed 50% of the time in the flagrant text space. This option is in HTML format.
Does this mean the default message and a points purchased message are displayed 50/50? I have not seen any sharing of this space over the last 13 days.

Hi,

No, the staff need to manage the queue manually I'm afraid. The logic behind this design choice is that users are likely going to put some inappropriate messages in, so there's a need to moderate them.  As it's a small feature we didn't write a full blown queue manager. But maybe we can make it at least revert back to the configured default message if the days has expired, I'll give it some thought.
