I was wondering if there was a way to

1)  Have the point leader board update more often.  (This one isn't a big deal though to be honest having it update every 24 hours would be cool.  Once a week is a LONG time.)

2)  Remove a member from the running.  I have two accounts on my site.  One Admin and one that's just a participant (and moderator…but still)  I don't mind if my participant account is on the point leader board but the Admin account really shouldn't be there.  All the stuff I have to do as admin puts it really high in points and it's just not cool…yah know?  Anyway I tried charging the account several hundred points to put it below most of the other accounts and it says that it only has like 50 points left but when the leader board updated it was still right toward the top and showed having full points.  So is there any way to actually get rid of some of those points or even better just remove the account from the point scheme entirely?

Thanks for the help

Geo

I do agree being able to change it would be nice.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

The point rank is done by all the points ever earned, so charging doesn't have effect. It's like ranking people by the amount of money they earned in their lifetimes.
What you can do is to give a negative gift – as this will actually reduce the calculated total of points ever earned, rather than just reduce their 'bank balance' so to speak.

OK I 'll see if that does it.  Thanks.

On the other hand.  That negative gifting thing just screams "abuse me."  I mean I just charged the Admin account 400 points which were then added to my account.  It's no big thing for my site but I could see it being a problem for bigger ones.  What might be nice would be an option in the user profile that would read something like "Participate in the point system?"  If it's selected everything runs normally; if deselected you don't gain, lose or even have points.  Could be very nice for people like me that don't really want the Admin account playing with everyone else.  Just a thought.  Thanks again.

Okay.  The PLB (Point Leader Board) updated and even with the negative gift nothing has changed.  Any more ideas?

I'm pretty sure what I said would work, so I'm at a bit of a loss. I suppose the next thing to do is investigate – to see how many points the leaderboard claims the member in question has, and then to look at their points profile to see what that says they have. If they are different, then the leaderboards out of date; if they are the same, the points profile should shed more light on the matter; if they are on the leaderboard but losing, it's probably because the potential competitors aren't within the top 100 forum posters (because the leaderboard is only calculated against those 100 forum posters for efficiency reasons).
