Community saint

I made a post asking for help on my welcome page and site page. My site page is gone and I can't get it to come back. I was using the set up wizard and unchecked the box which merges the welcome and the site pages. Now all I have is a welcome page. My site page disappeared and I can't get it back no matter what I try.

I have posted in the forums (80+ people have looked at it) with no response.

I have sent in a ticket with no response

I have emailed Chris Graham twice with no response.

Am I doing something wrong here? I am about 48 hours from dumping OC Portal and going with another community script. Can someone just point me in the right direction?

I've just replied to your ticket.

I'm afraid we can't guarantee replying on a day timeframe, as nobody is employed full time for ocPortal, and technical support isn't something we officially claim to provide. The registration fee revenue we get is just enough to cover our ongoing server costs. I usually do try hard to get answers out as quickly as possible, but this last week I've had to be working a lot of overtime in my full time job (I got back at 9pm last night for example).

With regard to other users not posting replies, I'm not sure if I subconsciously discourage that with my tendency to answer myself (when I can) – but I'd be very happy to have more member to member interaction here.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
