A user sends a personal topic, it shows up in the PT's block on the main page, you go read it, it does not go away… sometimes for days.

What am I missing?

heck, even if I go delete that PT, log out, come back later log in, it still shows in the PT's box on the front page.

Is that part of the CRON stuff I set up?  Maybe it's not running frequently enough?

I dunno.

Ah. It's not decaching the block right. In sources/ocf_topicview.php change:

Code

         decache('side_ocf_personal_topics',array(get_member());
to:

Code

         decache('_new_pp',array(get_member()));
         decache('side_ocf_personal_topics',array(get_member());
i.e. add new line

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

No, that didn't do anything.    topicview isn't called for that side block is it?

It's called when you view the topic, which needs to decache it because the topic's been read. Once decached the block regenerates next time it is viewed.

As you've deleted your topic already the fix won't solve that this time - you'll need to empty the block cache…

side_ocf_personal_topics.php is the file that makes that block, it calls view topic if you click on what is there, but what is there should not be there.  ;)
