I seem a little lost

I'm trying to figure this out so members don't need to have their "topics" or "posts" validated.
For both low and medium validation, do I set them as a "+" or a "-" so that they can post without me having to look in and validate?

I believe it's a + to allow that permission

I thought so myself. I have "members" usergroup set to "+" for both low-impact and mid-impact validations and I had to validate a post. So I am a bit confused.  :|

go to Structure > Forums > Choose > Edit forum

check out the bypass validator options.   ;)

Depending on how strict you want to be you'll either change it for ROOT or one of the sub-forums

Couple of things…
  1. There's a bug in 4.1 that we just recently noticed that means the column headings in the permission setting interface aren't aligning properly with the cells, which is very confusing. Hold the mouse over and look at the tooltip to make sure you're setting the right thing.
  2. Are you setting on an individual forum? If not, it may be the setting for an individual forum is overriding where you're setting it.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Not to be rude, but that's what I was refering to in my previous post, quoted below for the forum I had to validate. And all others where members should be able to start a topic or reply to one WITHOUT validation.

It's your first option, Chris. They are not aligned. Glad I am not going insane.

This topic is resolved. Thank you again, Chris.

Woops, my mistake Edemars.  I couldn't make out what where you were in the system based on your post.

Thx Chris for the info on the bug.
