In Personal Zone -> Personal Forum -> Personal topics … I can't seem to be able to set the permissions in the global permissions to show the icon ADD TOPIC for various members. Is there a permission setting or is this icon set to display from elsewhere?

 All I get is "Mark Read" and "Search".

The Admin account gets the icon "Add Topic" without a problem

Any thoughts?

Change line 513 of sources/ocf_forumview.php from:

Code

if (has_specific_permission($member_id,'moderate_personal_topic'))  $out['may_post_topic']=1;
to just:

Code

$out['may_post_topic']=1;

I think this extra bit of code probably had a purpose once, but all it's doing now is blocking what you want for non-staff. Our next patch release will also have this change.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
