Can I rearrange them?

I've looked through the tutorial and tried searching the forums, but can't find if this has been addressed.  How do I re-order the zones menu at the top of the site?  Is there a way?

I have wondered this my self I have not found a way to change it except by codding in the zones manually as I have.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

As amichan says, the only way to do it at the moment is to edit the template file and enter them manually.

Bummer.  That's something that perhaps should be added to a future version.  I think most people are going to want to specify which zone shows up where.

There's a new menu type in 3.1 that emulates the look of the zones menu. So you can rip out the hard coded one from the template, and either put in that menu type (and use the menu editor to edit it), or you can edit the template yourself fully, putting in whatever HTML you like. I think I included an example of the menu-type usage in one of my recent topics in the staff chat forum.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

If you do use this "new feature" I recommend editing out the edit menu button as it looks funny and takes way from the clean feel of the site.
Although that is the reason I am disappointed in this "new feature" and why I do not use it because it is just as easy to put your own links in there then use the menu thing not to mention its faster.
I really wish they would add an order zones or even add to the zone options a place to have external zones.
It would just add 2 fields to the zone creation.
1. asking if its an external zone.
2. a number for the order.

Or what might be nice is have an option to order by name.
