I've been posting documents to the gallery (I call it the Scrapbook) and am using it without the flow mode interface. When posting, I've been getting URLs like

Code

DOMAIN.com/galleries/image/-function_15.htm

but posting two items today I got these URLs without the "function" included:

Code

DOMAIN.com/galleries/image/-.htm
DOMAIN.com/galleries/image/-_2.htm

Everything seems to be working okay but I wonder if this is a sign of some problem or something that could develop into a problem.

What's the title that led to a moniker of "-"?

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

That's the thing. Galleries don't take titles in v7.1.5. They've always had the "-function_xx.htm" filenames. Or am I misunderstanding something.

As for the images uploaded, they are:

Code

uploads/galleries/city_of_los_angeles_greetings.png
uploads/galleries/christine_pacific_fleet_response_letter.png

Maybe the long filenames tripped something up?

Bob

EDIT: Nope. I have other filenames which are longer

In v8 the titles are derived from the title field on the form, which is new.

If you had a title field with just symbols I could see this happening, which is why I'm wondering what your title field was.

If the title field is completely blank it uses "untitled".

In v7 I think it was based on the description field but I can't remember off-hand.

Up until now, all the v7 URLs have looked liked /galleries/image/-function_8.htm.

I'm really looking forward to having a proper title field in v8. It will be a bit of extra work to go back and provide titles for the images but it will be well worth it. Having nice, readable and memorable URLs will be great. My one concern was that links to the old style URL will redirect to the new URL but you have allayed my fears in another thread.

Got it. There was actually a slight inconsistency here which I've solved.
