Trying to decide

Hello everyone. One of my websites is currently on postnuke and obviously needs to be upgraded. Originally it was on phpNuke many years ago but I redid it in Postnuke and had been very happy. Postnuke has since redone their code and is now Zikula.

Homepage :: Zikula Application Framework :: Fast easy and free - Do you dig it?

I had also considered Drupal and Joomla but felt like Zikula was still the better choice of the 3. Someone the other day clued me in to ocPortal, which I probably dismissed way back when I chose to move to postnuke because at the time ocPortal would've still been commercial/$$$. Now I see it's free, so I am faced with a new evaluation. Interestingly, I can find no mention of Zikula anywhere on here.

So I ask you, ocPortal fans: what distinguishes ocPortal from Zikula? Advantages? Disadvantages? (points for honesty here).

I'm still researching myself but major differences haven't become apparent yet so I was hoping for some input from people familiar with both. Thanks! :)

awhh the difference.

From my view, it has all the stuff that nuke has, and more already intergrated, thus limits the use of mods and plug in, and all one has to do is toggle on or toggle off. But its not as simple as that, you you can also create zones. for example all those categories you have in your forum can fave =virtually= there own site, thus zones. each zone can have there own theme, each zone can use the same usergroups, as users in the zone and/or for the whole site.
Now for those =like nuke mod= features already installed, that you can toggle on and off, well you can toggle them on just for zone wii and all other zones will not have it. or set up that one pays for that feature in a certain zone or for entire site.

now let say you have many websites, you can M.S.N them from different servers. Thats why im here.

so lets say over the years you created the ninstation and ps2station and xboxstation site all on dirferent locations, they can all have one base =an unbrella site= you could call it gamestation site now that basesite connects the user base with all the other domians, and data/members so one user at one place can also use the same login to another one of your sites. or invite other simular sites to join up and use the base site as an unbrella, and them as niches.

since it has all the mods u would find at nuke from third parties already intergrated, you dont have to worry about compatibility issues. or when u upgrate on, having to upgrade them all or relying on others to do the upgrade to there mod.

well thats a little bit about y this webware is better than any nuke.

down side, themeing is just as hard as any nuke. wish that would change *HINT HINT* though on a plus side they do have an auto themer that changes the color over all, or each zone.

hope that helped to understand what i know of ocportal

peace
