Hi,

On our previous system we use to send the members username to PayPal and we also got back the postage address from PayPal.

How can this be achieved with OCP ?

We need the postal address to be able to send a physical membership pack out to the new member and the username to tie it all together - particularly as the PayPal email address is not necessarily the users members email address.

I could not see how to do this in the eCommerce setup.

Cheers,
Ade

Solution to make things more transparent on PayPal's end (so as to avoid having to code ocPortal to collect addresses)…

Edit ECOM_SUBSCRIPTION_BUTTON_VIA_PAYPAL template.

Change:

Code

<input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1" />
to:

Code

<input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="0" />

Change:

Code

<input type="hidden" value="{!SUBSCRIPTION}" name="item_name" />
to:

Code

<input type="hidden" value="{!SUBSCRIPTION} for {$USERNAME*}" name="item_name" />

I have not tested this, but the changes should make it collect addresses and give the ocPortal username on PayPal's end (within the item name).

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
