Being one who likes to live on the edge, I have gone live today with one of my OCP4 sites. I've bumped into an issue where only Admin's can approve signups. I would like the staff to be able to approve registrations. I've gone in the Global Permissions Editor, selected the Members, usergroups and forums section, and allowed the following for my staff group:

Control which usergroups a member is in
Edit member's in special ways (e.g. banning or validating them)

but we're still getting permission errors. Is there something else I need to do?

TIA!
Be well, SD

Hi,

To be honest I didn't think of this situation. I could say you need to give the 'Assume any member' permission, but this isn't a good idea because that's probably the most dangerous permission there is.

I've just restructured quite a few lines of code to make it work as you expect, and that'll be in the next release :). That shouldn't be long now.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
