Looks nice to bad your not using ocPortal.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Cheers.

Hehe, I thought using ocPortal for a bunch of static web pages with little-to-no interactivity would have been a bit over the top ;)

Never!  Got a web page about your garden?  Or perhaps a page for a resume?  Then I say roll out ocPortal!!!

But seriously, I'm actually planning on building a couple of other sites and I'm seriously considering using ocPortal for even the smallish ones.  Still, you've got a good point.

BTW, nice pages!

Speaking of design, I made a few status images for my Live Support Center on my site for online/offline indicators, and I'm having a little trouble choosing which looks better. I know my design is way out of shape, so just bare with me and take a look. :P All opinions are welcome:

Online Status Images:
Online1 Online2

Offline Status Images:
Offline1 Offline2

Notice the differences between each online/offline image. Do the images look better with the Live Support Technician in focus, or faded?

I'd say go for faded offline, in focus online :)

If I look at the image bottom up I see a shirt under a jacket, a face, and then hair.

If I look at the image top down, I see a jumper (the top of the microphone looks like a zip), and then a naked bottom, and then naked legs, and then socks.

I think the diagonal text is making it hard to distinguish the microphone and hence I saw it as the zip.

Yes, Chris, you have left me in complete confusion. I'm not quiet understanding what you're trying to say.

Well, the brain recognises things by patterns. Once it's caught onto a theory, it'll look for other things that match that theory. The face lacks facial features and the hair is untextured, meaning the theory for 'head' is relatively weak, especially if you start looking from the very top of the image, and then downwards. When I looked at the top, what is meant to be hair, I saw it looking like a side-on view of someone's jacket, with the microphone headset looking like the zip of the jacket. Then moving downwards, I saw a round skin-toned area, which therefore looked like a bum. Then I saw an incline, which looks like where the bum meets the legs (in actual fact, it is where the face meets the neck), and then I saw a white region, which looked like the top of some socks (but in actual fact, is a shirt).

Good game! Good game! - (as Brucie would say).

Sorry if that was too parochial a comment for our non-Brit friends.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Lol Chris, I am not seeing what you do.

…The face lacks facial features…

Like I said, my designing skills are way off-point here :P Do graphics usually contain full detail?
