Need a little help!

I would like my links to not have underlines to them (in my Portfolio box, it would look nicer with no underlines here: Eric DeMars . com), but I'm coming up short trying to get it to work. I tried adding this to global.css:

Code

<!--
a {text-decoration:none}
//-->

But that messes up my theme.

All my link codes are bbcode:

Code

[url=link address]link name[/url]

Any suggestions what I can do?

Do you run Firefox with Firebug, or something similar? I put the mouse over a link, right clicked, chose Inspect, saw it was being styled with:

Code

a:link, a:visited, a:hover, a:active {
text-decoration:underline;
}
Disabled that style temporarily, and the style was gone, replaced with the "a {text-decoration:none}" that you probably added to global.css yourself. i.e. the bit I disabled was taken precedence, which it would do as the selector is more specific.

If you're looking to only remove underlines in the center, do something like ".global_middle a {text-decoration:none}"

Just Firefox standalone and Internet Explorer. Both show the underlines.

Any tips what I can do, Chris? Or anyone else who wants a stab at helping how to remove the underline for "everyone".

Have you ever used Firebug? It's a fantastic (free) Firefox extension that makes theme debugging go from minutes to seconds.

The basic idea is to install Firebug, then open it up with F12, click the Flashlight/inspect button and click over your link. This jumps the lower window to a codeview showing that bit of code.

Make sure you have the <a> tag selected in that lower window, then on the right you can see all of the CSS affecting that particular <a> tag.

In this case, looks like global.css line 1457 has the code causing the underlines (Chris posted it, too). Remove that and you should be good.

Actually it's lines 22-24 which are:

Code

a:link, a:visited, a:hover, a:active {
   text-decoration: underline;
}
These take precedence to what you added as it's more specific.
