i checked and rechecked
but i cant find a link nor an option to delete a forum

its easy to create and edit a forum

but how do you DELETE a forum?

UPDATE:

sometimes an "action" section shows during editing a forum,
and within this section the forum can be deleted, however,
this action section does not always show (not even if i reload a page)

anyone knows why?

Im using ocPortal to create DisabilityForce.com - a place for disabled people (like me) to provide mutual support to each other, and in doing so, they are empowered to become more inclusive, successful, and contributing citizens in society. It is also for anyone who is supportive of the rights and pursuit of happiness of people with disabilities. So, on behalf of the 1.2 billion disabled people in the world, I humbly thank this community for all assistance received.

Doesn't it show a message at the top of the edit form saying why it can't be deleted? (forums tied to config options can't be deleted until the config options are pointed to a different forum)

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Note that I'm changing the icon from a green to a yellow one to make it clearer.

If you notice similar confusing things please do continue to report them, even if you work them out yourself.

Please attach a full screenshot of an edit forum screen of one of your own forums that you can't delete, to demonstrate.

hi,

i downloaded the theme with the skydivers
and it broke my site completely
thank God its new (no members yet)

so i will be deleting and installing again

will keep you posted

ps: wonder if themes need to state which version of ocp it works with

im new at this but i like it so much i will be good at it soon

i hope to write a tutorial to help others avoid the fustrations that im facing right now

i've used many cms and to date i have not found one that offers a tutorial for each feature

its probably why many hop around from cms to cms looking for one with easier tutorials

ocp is by far the best documented, but for non-tech people is does have a high learning curve

the community seems to be very active and helpful (so the reviews i read online putting suport down is definitely not truthful)

im sticking to it!!

First time I've heard that 'support' for ocPortal is lacking in any way.

An example might help so that the balance can be redressed!

 :o

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Hi Jpietro, and welcome!

The skydivers theme is part of version 8 themes. If you are using version 9, it has been stated in hundreds of posts in this forum that it is not compatible with previous theme versions since the CSS has been completely overhauled.

Sorry for your troubles.:(
Maybe it is not so obvious for newcomers.;)

Anything we can do to help, just ask!:)
