I did the most recent update when I got the update notification on the main admin page last week.

Since doing the upgrade my members have been complaining that they are no longer receiving notifications about new posts in the forum. Is anybody else getting this issue?

Oh dear. The code was optimised a lot, it is possible something broke somewhere, perhaps on some servers. Do you see the emails come up in /adminzone/?page=admin_emaillog ?

I clicked "send all queued" and they've sent, but wonder why they were queuing in the first place?

Is your CRON broken perhaps?

/data/cron_bridge.php should be getting called regularly.

If you never had CRON, it seems it thinks it does have it, so perhaps the cron_bridge.php script was triggered just once, and it henceforth allowed itself to rely on it.

To see when CRON was last called, go to OcCLE and type:

Code

:echo get_timezoned_date(get_value('last_cron'));

Anything recent list in /adminzone/?page=admin_errorlog ?

Any error come up if you open /data/cron_bridge.php manually in a browser?

I think that's all bots and hosting problems.

I think something is stalling the queue, I'll take a look at it soon.

Sorry for the delay, I got very side-tracked.

Nobody else has reported a problem, and I just reviewed all changes to the relevant code files and I don't think there's a new bug.

I'm assuming you're not running the 'bettermail' addon, as I didn't check that.

Could it be simply that you enabled the 'E-mail debug mode' option? As this is what the option is designed for, to put a manual review process in front of e-mail sending.

I highly doubt it's a hosting problem. Did you check that config option? I will look directly at it if you want me to, just open a bug report ticket with access details.

Oh, okay. I stand corrected then. I wasn't aware of Arvixe imposing such a limit, what kinds of volume are we talking about? Did lots of people have notifications on all forum posts?

100 emails/hour

I seemed to have a backlog of unsent emails for some reason.

The option in question wasn't ticked though.

The scheduler will send 100 emails per iteration. So if you had it running hourly, that would be 100 per hour. It sounds self-fulfilling - if they block the script, more will queue up, so upon unblocking it will flood again. Maybe it started with a genuine misconfiguration of CRON on the server, or similar.

If you edit sources/hooks/systems/cron/mail_queue.php and change 100 to some other lower number perhaps that is a solution - let it drain out more slowly.
