The News code seems to be confused.

Its hard to track down but it looks like when someone creates a new news article in their own personal blog area the system doesnt fully fill out some of the fields.

This may just be a display issue, but for one thing, when I try to go and edit a news category as an admin, all of the personal news categories come under my name.

So for example I was the first one to post so I am Schwanke (#8) but then it also lists Schwanke (#9) and Schwanke (#10).

Its actually been doing this for several days. I thought it had just created my category two extra times. But when I tried to get it to do it again, I couldn't repeat it.

But now, I tried creating news as a regularly member (My test member) called SchwankenRalfer and the news category was created as SchwankenRalfer(#10).

So when I view the categories as myself Schwanke they all say Schwanke, but when I view them as a member I only see my own and see it as the right number.

This makes it kind of hard to delete or edit someone else's category as an admin unless you SU as them and go look up their number.

ALSO :( it turns out that when I go to EDIT one of those categories (Say #10) when the page opens it has no Title.

When I try to fill in a title and hit edit, it says

Code

A critical parameter [img] was missing

And finaly:

Is there anyway to make the personal blogs auto approved?  We would rather aprove everything and have stuff reported then to have to approve blogs item by item.  Especially since we plan on having a rather large user base.

Thanks for your help in advance.

If you can give some more information, or a screenshot, I'll look into this.

You've found a bug.

It's possible in ocPortal 3, but not in 2.6. You could hack it in though…

Change line 264 of membersonly/pages/modules/news.php from:

Code

      check_bypass_validation_permission('high',$validated);
to:

Code

      check_bypass_validation_permission('high',$validated);
      $validated2=post_param_integer('validated',-1);
      $disallowed_cats=array('1','2','3','4','5','6','7'); // Change this to add any validation-requiring cats to the list
      if (($validated2==-1) && (!in_array($main_news_category,$disallowed_cats)))
      {
         $validated=1;
      }

I wonder if this is the same as the 'missing fields' problem.

When I try to fill in a title and hit edit, it says

Sorry about all these!

Wow. You sound like a good stress tester, SMC. :)

I hope you'll take part in our public beta testing in June - we'll need all of the stress testers for version 3 that we can get ahold of.
