Hi gang, for some odd reason news post are not validating.  It started out in just one category, but not is happening in several.  All the fields are being filled including checking the validated box, but it isn't working.  Any ideas?

Hi,

If the user submitting is not an admin, perhaps they don't have bypass-validation permission.

Check privileges in:
/adminzone/index.php?page=admin_permissions&type=specific&ke
ep_devtest=1&id=SUBMISSION

This could happen if the privileges changed, but also if the user in question's usergroups changed.

The user having the problem is indeed a member of the administrators usergroup, but is also a member of the "family" usergroup as well.  Could that cause it?  I'll pop over and check permissions on the family usergroup as well

Ok, just checked security/privleges and the family user group has permissions to bypass validation, so I'm assuming that isn't the issue.

Another possibility is suhosin. If that has a low maximum variable setting, it could be losing the validated checkbox. I'm busy tonight, but I'll take a look when I can.

Hi,

I still had access to your site, so I took a look. I assume it was the Stan user (I found from the logs he was adding news). I did find an error with Facebook support that I fixed by updating one of your files to a newer version. But I couldn't find a validation issue, I tried doing some test posts, and temporarily validating one that was not validated before, all seemed okay.

Thanks Chris.  Yes it is the Stan user I'm having issues with.   Again I'm not having these issues and he has the same user group and privliges I do.  I Some time back I did merge his site, StansJournal.Com, with ours.  At the time I had him on the same server but under a different account, but we decided to just join sitaes since both of our sites are mainly directed towards our family members.  Seems I've had little issues ever since.  When I did the import it created two different Stan Accounts and I had to delete one, maybe I screwed something up then.  I'll keep looking to see if there's anything the jumps out at me and again thanks.

Ok, I just talked to him.  He's submitting the article and marking it for future publication.  For example the two artilces he submitted this morning are marked to publish Monday at 12:01am and 12:02am respectively.  could it be the validation check boxes are unched because of that and the problem he thinks he's having isn't a problem afterall although he says some of his artcles never publish?  Just trying to make sense of it all.  thanks

Ah yes that explains it. Scheduled publishing works by having it auto-validate at the specified time.

If something was scheduled but has not gone live, please let me know the news entry ID.

Yes, it is making sense to me now as well, because I logged in and checked balidate on artles that should've already published and they stayed checked and went live, but the artilces he has to publish come this sunday nightmonday morning would not stay checked.  here's an article he posted back in January that never published.

Sorry looking at the url now I see since I'm using short urls it doesn't give the id.  If you go to cms/news/edit news, and sort by smallest validation it will be the top article.

Hi,

I've just validated that news entry.

It's strange this, because I could not see any scheduled publishing set for it.

Possibilities include:
  1. if he added it, set as scheduled, edited to non-scheduled but didn't re-validate
  2. if he added it, set as scheduled, then deleted the scheduled publishing event manually off the calendar (that would then just leave it non-validated)

I did some tests just now. I tried editing with a schedule date, then going back and confirm it was still there on edit, and saved, and back again to confirm. So I don't think it's just losing the schedule date on it's own.
