8.1.1 Fatal Errors

I've been using ocPortal for about a year now. Been working really hard to master it & then this happens.

Fatal error: Call to a member function evaluate() on a non-object in /home1/mackeob2/public_html/sources/submit.php on line 49

I have been working on a site for a client for 3 weeks now. I thought I would upgrade on 2 of my test sites & it seemed to go ok. This time it bummed out.

I can't edit any of my pages. I can't edit the menus. I don't have the drop-down list to assign an entry point for menu items. I no longer have the roll-back option in the Admin Zone.

What are my options?

I no longer have the roll-back option in the Admin Zone.

There never was a roll-back option, that's not a feature we have – I guess you were looking at something else?

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I was probably thinking of the restore option I used on a couple of pages. I guess that shows my newness!

I've never ventured into the realm of installing hotfixes before, but I'm determined to march on. I was searching around for 'install procedures" for hotfixes. But came up empty!

If I could find that, I'm sure I could move happily along :) Who knows? Some day I may have something to contribute. I would really like to develop in the area of CMS's, specifically ocPortal.

In a past life I was a Comp Sci Educator in Canada & Beijing, with a hardware engineering background. Now, I would like to devote my time to more creative nuances. Less stress :)

Thanks for such a quick response.

With hotfix files you just extract them on your computer then FTP the files to the root of your site.

So for #615, when you extract it, it will create a sources folder, and you just FTP that to your site.

Also as a precaution, you should get into the habit of backing up your site before you apply any patches so that you can revert back to the original if anything goes wrong.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .
