This is a multiple...

I had a look at the global CSS. I wish I hadn't. I can make nothing of it. Maybe one day when I get the site to how I want it I shall then look more into 'tweaks'. I have played around with the CSS in Invision Free forums, but this is nothing like what I am used to.

I have a color question. Although I have used the Theme wizard color change, I cannot get what I am after.

I want to permanately change the colors 1-4 across the whole site. I am guessing that will be in the global.css (I had a look thru and saw very little hex-color reference). But since I don't even know what I would be looking for, I haven't a clue where to start. I am guessing there are just 4 points in the code I need to change. It may be very straightforward, it may not be. If it is not I apologise and understand if you don't give me the direct answer, but a point in the right direction would be cool - like what their names are in relation to the .css.

5. I still want to try to disable that top menu. Is it possible??

I know that OCP is a zone site, and I am using the zones, but I am using navigational buttons in the side panels rather than the top nav shortcuts. I will probably have 8-10 zones… and I am worried about the appearance when people browse on a lower screen resoultion to what I use (1280 x 1024). On lower resolutions they run right off the left of the strip into the logo.

Again I apologise that it is not a 'quickie' - and if it too long to answer, not a problem. Forget it (I have already used a lot of your time guys;)) and I will get on to it later when I hopefully understand more about it.

I know I have changed both before for some skins I made but I would have to look as I do not have the css memorized.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

What I'd do is I'd press the print-screen button on the keyboard, then go to a paint program (Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, GIMP [free], Paint.Net [free])… whatever), and then paste into a new image. I'd then use the colour picker tool to select a pixel where I wanted to change the colour at. I don't know about GIMP/Paint.Net, but I know in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro you can then find the hex code directly from the colour palette interface. Then I'd simply search for the code in global.css.
Some notes about case 1 and 2…
  1. You'll also need to change the logo image, as the background colour exists within this image also.
  2. This is an image. If you have the ocPortal files on your own computer, it should be pretty easy to just browse through the images folder and use the windows thumbnail functionality to quickly see what's what.

I still want to try to disable that top menu. Is it possible??

Yeah. Edit the TOP template, and rip most of it out. This bit:

Code

   {$SET,PREVIOUS_ZONE,_false}
   <div class="global_zones">
   {+START,IF,{$VALUE_OPTION,use_zone_menu}}
      {$BLOCK,block=side_stored_menu,param=zone_menu,type=zone}
   {+END}
   {+START,IF,{$NOT,{$VALUE_OPTION,use_zone_menu}}}
      {+START,LOOP,ZONES}
         {+START,IF,{$AND,{$NEQ,{CODE},},{$NEQ,{CODE},docs}}}
            {+START,IF,{$GET,PREVIOUS_ZONE}}|{+END}
            <a {+START,IF,{$IS_STAFF}}title="{!SPECIAL_CLICK_TO_EDIT#}" onclick="Javascript: if (!window.handleZoneClick) return true; if (!event) event=window.event; return handleZoneClick(this,event,'{CODE*;}');" {+END}{+START,IF,{$NOT,{$GET,PREVIOUS_ZONE}}}accesskey="Z" {+END}href="{$PAGE_LINK*,{CODE}}" class="{$?,{$EQ,{$ZONE},{CODE}},current_zone,non_current_zone}">{TITLE}</a>
            {$SET,PREVIOUS_ZONE,_true}
         {+END}
      {+END}
   {+END}
   </div>

:).

Maybe I am to used to Gimp but I found finding hex colors in photo shop cs3 non existent.
It is in Gimp though and Gimp is a lot like photo shop but I find it better in some ways as you can resize layers and I can not seem to find out how to do that in photoshop.

It is definitely "well hidden". It's "Free Transform" on the edit menu. Once you find it, it's a really intuitive tool.

I haven't had a problem finding the hex thing though – it's just on the colour selector window, next to "#".

Oh I am to used to gimp when I use that tool for picking that color to use gimp opens a window.
When photoshop did not do that I was having trouble finding it do to that window that is always open above layers showing colors but not the hex but the color thing on the left does have the hex which technically works the same way as gimp.
They are not to much different but photoshop does have more features but its a lot of money. I only have the free trial for not and am thinking about buying it. Any way back to the question. You wanted to know the css to change the boarder on the left and right panel right?
If I am thinking correctly and this is from memory as I have not looked it up but I think you need to look for standardbox_wrap_panel or it might be global_side in the css.

My take . . .

1. (1) & (2) are best done using the Theme Wizard, but you'll have to make changes to all the other 'gradiants' so that the 'boxes', 'quotes', logos, buttons, etc. blend in with the overall theme of the site.

2. (3) can be changed by referring to the following in global.css . . .

Code

.global_title {
   padding: 13px 3px 13px 3px;
   background-color: #FFF; /*{$,wizard, 23% (seed sat_to 71) + 77% W/B} */
   background: url('{$IMG,bg}')
}

.main_page_title {
   background-color: #FFF; /*{$,wizard, 23% (seed sat_to 71) + 77% W/B} */
   background: url('{$IMG,bg}');
   font-size: 1.6em;
   color: #164272;
   font-weight: normal;
   background: url('{$IMG,underline}') no-repeat 30px 100%;
   display: inline;
}

--------- and ---------

.breadcrumbs {
   background-color: #FFF; /*{$,wizard, 23% (seed sat_to 71) + 77% W/B} */
   background: url('{$IMG,bg}');
   padding: 5px 0 0 0;
   float: right
}
. . . you'll notice I changed my background to a faint stripe by calling it up as an 'image'.

3. (4) runs all the way down your page and can be changed in global.css . . .

Code

body, .re_body {
   margin: 0;
   padding: 0;
   font-size: 0.8em;
   background-color: #64799C; /* {$,wizard, 83% (seed sat_to 50) + 17% !W/B} */ /* #64799C is the colour Fletch has chosen for his background-color */
   font-family: 'Verdana', 'Arial', 'Helvetica', sans-serif
}

--------- and ---------

#dyn_bottom {
   background-color: #64799C; /* {$,footer_bg, 100% (seed sat_to 33)} */ /* #64799C is the colour Fletch has chosen for his background-color */
   background-repeat: repeat-x;
   color: #000; /* {$,wizard, 100% W/B} */
   width: 100%;
   padding-top: 30px;
   padding-bottom: 20px
}
. . . but I also changed dyn_bottom so that it all appears seamless. Your mileage will vary, but I thought I'd point out what I'd done!

Any help?

Take my advice. I'm not using it!
