The "likes" thumbs disappeared after the upgrade. Did 8.1 lose the ability to have them, or did I screw something up? I tried turning them back on through occle but no go.

When I read the title of this topic, I thought we were about to be sued for medical negligence.

Update went bad. I felt all fingers and thumbs as a result. But Robbie had to collect them first.

Give me a clue, please!

It sure as hell doesn't appear in my 'config_editor' when I run it …

 O_o

Update:
Found it. For others that are as 'dumb' as me (and who haven't declared this openly), You can find it here:
Admin Zone » Setup » Configuration » Site options » General » Replace rating with 'lkes'

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Thanks, buddy. I got there in the end, but I am always grateful when somebody responds positively!

Silly place for me to have put it really, thinking about this now. We'll move it for future people.

Ah, the illusive thumbs.

When it disappeared, the first place I looked in was "Member and forum options", but didn't see it so I posted instead of looking elsewhere.

It should go with the other 'User interaction' options.

I also noticed that after I'd 'activated' the thumbs, that all previous 'likes' got wiped out.

Not that it's a big deal on my site, but others might consider it important to retain the 'ratings'!

That shouldn't be the case.

EDIT: Maybe you are noticing that without 'likes' being enabled, the top raters are not shown. But that is purely a display thing, the data whether the option is off or on.

You are absolutely right - that it shouldn't be the case - and I am taking this opportunity as a user, to confirm what you say.

Weird that immediately I 'activated' the thumbs, that all the 'stars' got wiped. Now that I've reopened the forums on a new visit, all the star ratings have been restored.

So my first post on the matter is a total misdirection. Sorry about that folks!

I am not finding this setting in Site Options>>General. The file admin_config.php in /adminzone/pages/modules was updated during the upgrade. Which file do I need to replace from the manual install package?

I also notice that my anti-spam settings are being displayed (without language variables). I was pretty careful to remove all the antispam changes prior to doing the update but I guess I must have missed something.

Bob,

Admin Zone » Setup » Configuration » Site options » General » Replace rating with 'lkes' ('likes' is misspelled)

Second-last entry in 'General', just before * Time zone

Thanks, Fletch. Unfortunately, it's not there – none of the new options is listed and I am still showing the antispam information even though I reverted my files prior to the upgrade (or so I thought).

Fortunately, this is just on my trial run on my test site.

If ocStaff wants to investigate on my site, please let me know. I'll provide URL and user/pass for the directory.

Thanks for any help.

Bob
