Like BobS (another post) I've been getting hit recently by masses of spam posts in my Forums. They don't actually see the light of day because I first need to validate them. However, it is becoming a bit tiresome having to click on each of the bits of crap before I eventually get to actually delete each post.

I am probably overlooking something simple, but I can't seem to find an all-encompassing multi-deletion system where I can tick a box or something similar in the Admin Zone where I can 'zap-the-crap' without having to actually look at it. If there is such a function, can somebody please point me at it?

Currently I am getting rid of these posts using phpMyAdmin, but would prefer not to have to leave the site to delete them.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Fletch there is a going spam activity who use the recommend addon. They use a Flack-hack or something to send link messages.

Update:

Thanks for the info Harry, but I don't think that is currently my problem.

I've gone back into 'permissions' and set up more stringent access to the parts of my forums that were accessible by just about any drive-by. Now they can't even get off first base (i.e. to post their garbage), and for the past 48 hours I've been 'spam-free'. It would still be nice to have a 'multi-delete' feature.

I hope it lasts!

Oke Fletch.  My strongest way to get them gone is give the hacker/spammer a server ban. But I don't have really spamming in the forum, like you.   :P

Since I updated the .htaccess with both the exploited server and Russian blacklists, I've had much reduced visits from bad actors in ocPortal's online members page. I hated to ban the entire Soviet bloc but I was having so many would-be spammers from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Moldava and Lithuania just started that I figured it was a decent trade-off to get some of my time back.

China hasn't been too bad yet but I'm watching them.
