content of ocportal.com news missing, but headings still there

This isn't catastrophic or anything, but figured I'd throw it out in case anyone else is seeing the same thing.  I don't remember seeing this after upgrading to 5.0.0, but now with 5.0.1 the newsfeeds coming from ocportal.com are missing their contents.  For example, the news block shows the headings for the recent posts on pets.com and HipHop PHP, and there's space in the block for an article, but there's no text.  In the case of the HipHop PHP article, code examples are still visible.

I don't have my CSS book open, but isn't there a style that makes something invisible while keeping the space it would occupy?  That's what it looks like.  I wonder if my templates got into a weird state somehow–I haven't done any customization yet, but who knows.

Hi,

If you mean in the admin zone front page, it's not supposed to show the summaries because I think we are using the side_rss block there. In 5.0.0 I think actually RSS was displaying an error, so that's probably why you didn't notice before.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

It's the site page, in a main_rss block.  The title bar says "News from: ocPortal.com: News."  It's not holding me up; I'm just bringing it up in case others are seeing the same thing.

Hi,

That's odd, working when I test from here :S.

Have you edited the BLOCK_MAIN_RSS_SUMMARY template perhaps?

I hadn't edited that template, but it must be something in my theme, which was dark.  It started working again when I went back to my previous (light) theme.  Now I'm wondering if the text color just matched the background color, so that text was rendering but I couldn't read it.  Will have to dig a little deeper.

Thanks!
