I recently had to merge a member who lost his password-access to his account - yes I know I already gave him a new password access but he went in and started a new account and requested to have his previous account moved into his new account. I did the merge and it moved the points and other info but I notice that it does not affect the Forum posts which were attributed to his old (first) account. Is there a way to get his post authorship attributed to the new account - I am guessing this is not simple to do?

I would think outside of ocportal, a simple sql query to replace the older username/usernumber with the new in the forum database would be all that is needed.   I guess 'simple' if you know where in the db that is stored.  ;)

Hmm, couple of possibilities. Merge members doesn't work on multi-site-networks well. Otherwise, maybe it did work and you just need to go to Admin Zone > Tools > Cleanup Tools and run the ones relating to the forum (displayed usernames are cached).

I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

The original member account was 'kenneysills' which was merged into the new account 'kenneyboy82'. The points and stats appear to have transfered alright but all the Forum posts made under the original account have not been credited to the new account even after the old account had been merged into the new account and the caches cleared.

There is no multi-network aspect to this site so I don't believe that would affect this action. I am not sure how the merge was designed to work, regarding any limits, if any, that might be involved in taking the MERGE action.

So far I have received no complaint from the member as of yet but I wanted to report it FYI. This member  has been my #1 non-artist member and happens to have the most non-admin posts in the Forum so he might mention it.

I suppose, also the possibility exists that some aspect of my theme modifications over the last couple of years may have interfered with ocPortal base design and periotic updates, I cannot tell from my end. For a more completely up to date and ocPortal harmonious site I have been waiting for version 8 to land before I do a complete theme update and make everything good with the ocP universe and me. LOL

So who are the posts credited to? The old account would have been deleted, so ocPortal would display as Guest? Are you completely sure it's not just the cleanup tools issue described above?

I have cleared all the DE-CACHERS (except the theme images (I know all did not apply)) but did not do the OPTIMISERS 'Correct MySQL schema issues' option.

A note: the original account 'kenneysills' does not show up on the member list - the merged into account, of course, does appear.

I notice that the FORUM posts which were made through the original account (kenneysills) displays the name of the original member account (kenneysills) with the new avatar of the merged into account …but if you hover over the member name it will show the merged into account stats.

Chris you still have access both as a member and as admin through the info I gave you a long time ago if you want to check out this post it will show you what I have tried to explain - it is the first post attributed to kenneysills but the hover reveals the account user name of kenneyboy82.

Ah yes, got it :).

I forgot we saved the username into the posts. If you pass the post through an edit it'll workaround it.

We'll put a bug fix into v8.
