Can anyone tell me where the master setting is to not require ANY validation for all posts, on all boards within the ADMIN Zone?

Global Privileges > Submissions

Look for the "Bypass validator" setting, and put a checkmark in it for each member group that you want to bypass validation. You can use the + block at the end to select them all.

Note that there are several levels of info that have "Bypass Validator"

Hope that helps!

Thanks Mythus.

I had checked that one for all users groups, and they were all clear; that's why I thought I was missing a global setting somewhere else…

For some reason, keep having things (in one forum board only) ending up not validated.

Did you also check the permissions for the member groups and/or forums?

If you set the permissions for the entry rank member group (the one everyone starts at) it should carry over to the other groups when they move up in rank.

This is in Security > Member Groups.

Each Forum has their own permissions, but unless you set them yourself, they should take the defaults of your member group permissions IIRC. BUt if the member group permission doesn't pan out, check there.

You can edit each forum right on your forum page. It has an (Edit) link next to each forum.

Also you can get to it via the admin zone in Structure > Forums > Edit Forum

The permission you are looking for is "Bypass post validation". You have to expand Permissions to see it. Make sure it has a checkmark for each group you want to have that permission.

Thanks Mythus

Unfortunately, the user group that was validated already has the permission selected, so I am beginning to wonder if this is a bug.

Hi,

The idea of a master setting is actually pretty much backwards to how it is implemented. The global setting is more like a default, then forums may override that setting.

I think it's highly unlikely to be a bug, as this functionality has been working stably for many years now.

I can't check the configuration without knowing the forum name and member involved, but I did try and guess what it might be; however  everything seems to be currently validated on your site so I couldn't check further.

However, I did notice an inconsistency here: the screenshot seems to point to a non-validated topic, not a post. It's an important distinction, so perhaps you were looking in the wrong place.
I will see if we can make the error message more specific in the future, I note it uses the term 'entry' which is certainly not clear.

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
