Hi, how can one masquerade as a guest? There are three different types of users that should have custom navigation - guests, users and administrators. I've found your directions on how to customize the top navigation using If Staff, and I presume that will work for guests too, but how does one test that out?

Thanks for any help!

That's quite simple…very simple, actually.

Try logging out. :)

You can also put &keep_su=Guest onto the end of a URL when logged in as an administrator.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Ah, sorry for the easy question. I'd presumed that because the site was remembering me but I had to log in as admin, that I would have to clear cookies or something to be unremembered. I didn't realize that we had a user login, then an admin login.

I found the logout button and it did the trick, and now I know something more about how OCPortal works. Thanks for the help :)

I think the 'virtual username' for Guest might be different on IPB.
