Hi everyone  ;)

When asked to call a comcode page,

Code

[block param="comcode_page" id=":mypage" efficient="1" title="mytitle"]main_content[/block]
the "main_content" block shows what's written in the page summary for search engines (or "no summary available" when blank), and a "go to" link to display the page.
Is it supposed to do that, and is there a way to convince the block to display what's in the page rather than the link ?

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no way to do this in ocPortal, though we may consider it for a future version.

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks Chris

What would be the best way to display some formated comcode in a block (or box/frame/whatever), that would be dependent on a comcode page or a text file that could be modified by a user (or group of users), but without giving them a chance to ruin the whole home page ?

I can't think of a way to do this automatically and without code changes (Comcode pages aren't selectively editable by permissions). My suggestion would probably be to let someone continuously edit a forum post and then manually copy that over as needed. We are considering better approaches for future versions.

Please do, this would be really handy…

Meanwhile, tried to find a solution. Found a decent one using param=post instead of comcode page, just two little things to remove and it would be perfect.
Idea is to get rid of the "go to" and "archives" links at the bottom of the block. Which template should i fumble in to manage that?

Also, wanted to see what it would look like using a cedi post instead of a forum post, but when i try that it either calls me a pirate or returns

Code

A source code file is missing:
hooks/systems/awards/cedi_post (or an overridden
equivalent to this path)
This is what i used:

Code

[block param="cedi_post" id="1" efficient="1" title="mytitle"]main_content[/block]
did i miss something?

OCF_ISOLATED_POST and BLOCK_MAIN_CONTENT are the templates to edit.

Please be aware though that OCF_ISOLATED_POST is also used to show the posts in a topic when you're replying to the topic.

cedi_post should be seedy_post (as it uses the old naming for the CEDI system).

I'm not sure why the hack-attack message would come up. If you'd like, you can post the alert that comes up in your security log (or staff email) here and I'll work out the cause.
