Did you upgrade from 8.x.x (or earlier) to 9.0.6 (the latest) or to 9.0?

Did you lose the galleries themselves, or the images in those galleries?

Look in /uploads/galleries/. Are your images still there?

Yes, I upgraded from 8.x.x to 9.0.6.

All the galleries that were created by myself and other users are gone.

I checked the /uploads/galleries/ and it's empty except for an index file.

I contacted my provider and asked if they could restore all my files prior to the upgrading. I'm waiting for a reply.

Did I do something wrong when I upgraded. I followed all the instructions (including deleting files that was recommended?)

thanks for the reply

Hi,

All I can think that would do this if the galleries addon was specifically reinstalled from Admin Zone > Structure > Addons. This would erase all module data before reinstalling it. Unless there is a weird bug somewhere, but it'd really surprise me as nobodies reported this kind of issue and it's the kind of possibility I really hope we wouldn't miss.

I followed all the instructions

If this is the case, you should have a backup – the uploads/galleries directory would be contained in that, but you'd want to do a full restore because you'd need the database data back too.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
