When i post a link on Facebook it often formats poorly and is always missing an accompanying image. Here is an example;

Good question. This is powered by Facebook Open Graph support, which we do support in ocPortal. If you have a news rep-image selected for the article, it should come through to Facebook via that. We weren't specifying the text, so Facebook was determining that. Basically, anything not supplied in Facebook Open Graph (which is some meta tags), Facebook will determine itself. I have just tweaked this for v8 so the text is filled in as the news article summary…

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Nice one, thanks Chris. I may misunderstand your answer a little; what happens for non-article pages? if i link my index page on facebook i get the same problem, is there any way to make the 'logo' image present as the link image on fb?

IIRC ocPortal uses the first attachment as the image.

If you're not sure what a page is looking, review the HTML source. Looks for og:image in there.
