Well-settled

I believe the Links section is essentially a Catalogue with a custom front-end or something similar (since I can see it under the Catalogues content section).  I was curious if anyone knows if it's possible to do the following things:

1) Automatically add the date a link was submitted?  Can the catalogue be configured to do this?

2) Create / Enable a "Links added in the last X days option" or something similar?  Maybe a dynamic selector option on the links view itself (so that you could choose 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, etc) and maybe a box on the home page with the last 5 links added or something?

3) Create a Links view that will show ALL of the links entries, not just one one category at a time?  Maybe with the option to filter/sort by column header (so by name, category, date added for example)?

I'm still trying to figure out the basics of OCP, and haven't really gotten around to much in the way of basic customization yet, so I figured I would ask here to see if anyone had suggestions.

Thanks

Yes

1– Is passed into template yes, probably {ADD_DATE}.

2– main_recent_cc_entries block

3– v9 can do this, although is complex. main_cc_embed block can do aggregation too.

btw, noticed you put a lot of feature ideas on the tracker. Bluntly, they'll only get done if an organisation/company/person sponsors development or contributes code, but they look like good ideas to me.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks.  I'll have to play around with it and see if it can get this set up.

Depending on the cost, I might be willing to sponsor a few myself.  Especially on the CEDI stuff.  But I'm not that rich, so we'll see.

On the Quiz stuff, most of those ideas came from when I played around with Moodle a bit.  I have no idea how hard it might be to "borrow" code from Moodle and bring into OCP, as I'm not a developer.  I don't write code, I just write the specifications the code has to meet. ;)

Thanks for the feedback on them though.  I'm glad you think they are nice ideas, as those are some of the ones I see as being most critical for my use.
