Hi :),

You can browse all the past versions here:

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I don't like to see people lose time trying to install, and it could be a bug or usability issue, so please do post about whatever problems you come against and someone'll help.
It's unlikely to be your fault- even if it is 'user error', it's probably something we need to make easier, so make it our problem :).

It worked. Amazing…
Direct install of V4 was impossible, tried for hours with a support guy from infomaniak.ch (great host).
Pb was with database not being localhost, installer kept returning db connection errors.
V3.2.9 installed like a charm, not one error during the whole installation process. Upgraded to 4.0.3 as stated in the 4.0.0 announcement.
When i ran upgrader.php, all ok except database upgrade, couldn't connect. Edited the config file, changed db driver from mysqli to mysql, and it works.
Might not be the most elegant way of getting there, but it can be a good workaround for people having problems with a straight V4 install.
Time for a little nap, more feedback tomorrow.  ;)

Wow, good work there.

I'll see if I can find the cause of the problem, thanks for reporting it, and thanks for your patience!

Yes, I can confirm the problem.

If you install using the mysqli database extension, but the mysql extension is also installed, problems will happen.
We'll fix in the next patch release. Thanks again for your patience.
