He guys, I'am try to get one of my new sites into dutch language. I downloaded the dutch translating .po files from launchpad, sofar no problems. Uploaded all the files to the Language_custom/NL dir.
I have made all the other NL dirs into /pages .

Installed the language block in the site menu. Now If I go the the dutch language there is a problem with the layout: see attachment what I mean. All content and blocks are set down under the left menu. Can somone tell me how to correct this please??

If you want to see it yourself: site here

Thanks. Harry

People keep translating the strings 'right' and 'left' without reading our instructions not to translate them ;).

It's described in the internationalisation tutorial I believe. Unfortunately Launchpad is outside our control so we can't document it on there well.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Great :).

I realised there is something I can do to protect this in the future. ocPortal's po compiler in the future will auto-correct when people translate those strings incorrectly.
