I am having errors too:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_value() in /homepublic_html/demo-4-2/install.php(9579) : eval()'d code on line 566

Step 5/10 of installation:

An error has occurred

PHP [1] Call to undefined function get_value()

Here is the stack trace:

Below is a stack trace revealing the state the software was in when the error occurred. If this represents a bug in the unmodified software, you may want to check ocPortal website for a fix, and if there isn't one, report this as a bug. Please note that merely posting a stack trace is not sufficient for us to solve your problem; the stack trace is just an aid that presents us with additional information. We still need to know the error message, what you tried to do, how you tried to do it, version numbers, and any other appropriate information.
We apologise for this problem and if it's a bug we hope you will work with us so that we can fix it for you promptly.

I think you meant Setup Wizard, not installer.
I also think this may be a problem caused by deleting some files from your default theme's images_custom folder. Does that seem likely? The problem seems to be that files referenced by usergroups for their rank image no longer are there.
Also the problem should not be fatal, these are just warnings put at the top aren't they?

Eric–

I tested the quick installer and it didn't happen for me, so I'm working blind, but I think I have fixed the problem now. I reuploaded the quick installer with just that fix made.

Fan in training

Had same problem with 4.2 this morning. Eric beat me to the report so I didn't duplicate. Just mentioning so you don't think Eric's a crazy person

The new uploaded QuickInstaller is painless. Thanks for rushing it.

The instant transfer still shows RC3, yet I don't see anyone worried about this issue as I just tried again and it still shows RC3.

Wow, ocPortal can destroy sites?   (do they use lazers?)
No offense, but there are way better CMS softwares out there better than Tikiwiki. And Tikiwiki is nothing compared to ocPortal.

Anyway, best of luck to you in the future and hope you return back to us soon.

I'm sorry when there are problems, but we do our best to avoid them within the limited resources we have. We do suggest heavily that people take backups on the news posts, in the upgrader, and the tutorials.

I am still getting this error when going through the first time setup wizard after the install completes. it requests my ftp creds and gives me:

That's weird because you can click on the link and your image shows up just fine.

Visiting your site it looks like you got the installation done okay. Did it finally work?

Sorry for the delay getting back to you properly here. I am having a bit of a holiday after too many 15-hours-a-day-7-days-a-week work-weeks, but trying to catch up with outstanding issues today.

The instant transfer still shows RC3, yet I don't see anyone worried about this issue as I just tried again and it still shows RC3.

I believe this is now fixed.
We had an issue with our versioning platform when we released v4.2, it got a bit confused.

What confuses me about the issues you're having is the errors. 4.2 has been tested for many months and the theme image code not really changed much over that time. The images referenced in the errors are reminiscent of ocPortal theme images, but not quite right. For instance "background-image" is actually "background_image" in ocPortal, and "ocf_rank_0" is actually "ocf_rank_images/0".
Is it really a totally fresh install (no old files, like old theme files, lying around)?
A screenshot of the errors would help also.

This sounds like a possible Firewall issue. There's an option in the configuration, if you search the Admin Zone for 'firewall' I think it will come up. The option basically tells ocPortal to bypass your Firewall for looking up local URLs.

Well I first upgraded from 4.1.13, had some issues, decided to reinstall from scratch. so I rm -rf the folder including the .htaccess and cleaned out the DB.

As fare as I know I don't have a firewall on the server, but the DC could be firewalling. But the site worked without issue.

You can try typing this into OcCLE:

Code

:set_value('prefer_curl','1');
