Well-settled

I don't know if this is an issue but I searched the forums by keyword 'rating' and going back one year, there were no hits. So this is what I am experiencing -

- If rating is enabled for a gallery, and someone rates an album, the shows for everyone just as pictured, and they do not have an option to add to the rating.

- Additionally, activating rating and having someone rate an album as per above changes the way main_top_galleries displays on the front page. Now, main_top_galleries does not show "Galleries Home" with its representative image (the default installation behavior), and disabling rating doesn't change it back

Thanks for any input on this.

1- if user's share an IP address then this will stop multiple users voting. The IP restriction is to stop abuse - e.g. someone voting for their own content from a lot of fake usernames.

2- if no galleries have been rated the block reverts to unrated galleries. If at least one has, it will only show from rated galleries. Disabling rating will not retract ratings - however hopefully on established sites statistics will make that a mute-point.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
